Young Filmmakers Program Intern

Job Description: Works with the Director of Young Filmmakers Program. Young Filmmakers Program Interns will aid in facilitating the operation of the four main Young Filmmakers Initiatives: Digital Storytelling, Summer Film Camp, Festival Scholarship Program, and the Young Filmmakers Competition. Tasks range from administrative duties such as in office research and data entry to programming support including screening competition films and managing Young Filmmakers panels.

• Digital Storytelling: Digital Storytelling (DS) is an AFF arts education program that improves students’ reading, writing, communication, media technology, and idea-expression skills through hands-on screenwriting, filmmaking and podcasting.
• Summer Film Camp: Led by working filmmakers, AFF’s Summer Film Camp provides campers with the venue, equipment, and team they need to create their very own short films. Campers learn everything they need to know to comfortably get behind the camera and turn their ideas into real movies.
• Festival Scholarship Program: Austin Film Festival’s Young Filmmakers Scholarship Program grants access to over 300 scholarships for students and teachers in middle and high school. Participants are given the opportunity to attend the 26th Annual Austin Film Festival & Conference,
• Young Filmmakers Competition: Austin Film Festival has a FREE film competition for young filmmakers ages 13-18. At the Young Filmmakers Showcase, selected animated, documentary, and narrative show films from all around the world will play on the big screen in front of a supportive audience of festival-goers.

Job Requirements: We’re looking for a team player that is happy to step up to the plate to ensure all events run smoothly. YFP interns should be equal parts organized and personable – able to work well with people as well as review event materials with precision and a meticulous eye.
