JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports To: Wine & Spirits Buyer

Job Function:  Plans, organizes, directs and controls the Merchandising activities of all wines & spirits. Maintains close working relationship with Regional and Branch Managers to improve merchandising standards inside the warehouses. The Wine & Spirits Merchandiser will provide our customers with professional advice and/or suggestions while shopping for their wine and spirits at the same time building professional relationships with our vendors. This individual will also be responsible for ensuring the warehouse is following our policies and procedures related to all facets of wine & spirits merchandising, sales, and product placement.

Responsibilities:

• Works with vendors to identify the top moving productsto ensure they are properly slotted and merchandised.
• Develops planograms/schematics for stores to enhance the selling floor to develop maximum sales.
• Develops product and POS signage with vendors (for in-store use).
• Develops housekeeping standards for the category.
• Repositions product in the store to maximize the selling potential in the warehouses.  Creates/Develops cross-merchandising ideas.
• Reviews the present fixtures in the warehouse and recommends new fixtures for maximum sales potential.
• Interact and consults with the Regional Vice President and other top level management responsible for policy to ensure compliance to company merchandising policies and procedures.
• Maintains appropriate communications with outside vendors and business organizations to develop merchandising ideas and signage.
• Generate new concepts/ideas on packaging with buyers and vendors.
• Follow up with Customer Calls as needed from local branch/region.
• Ensure warehouses are in compliance with all policies/procedures in regards to Safety.
• Ongoing training and education to our internal store employees on product knowledge as needed.
• Perform routine cycle counts of wine and spirits and ensure satisfactory inventory controls are in place.
• Ensure damaged product is being disposed of properly.
• Ensure any product recalls are handled per our company policy.

Job Requirements:

• Exemplary Customer Service Skills. Must be able to interact with our business customers shopping for wine and spirits and be able to make recommendations and/or provide suggestions to fit their needs.
• Familiarity with wine, spirits and beer production terminology, phases of product processing, as well as varieties.
• Knowledge of foreign product names and terms, to ensure our customers are will understand the product they are purchasing.
• Basic math skills, including metric calculations for end user consumption.
• Communication skills; must have excellent verbal and written skills for interaction with customers, vendors, and internal associates.
• Detailed-oriented, organized with follow-through and a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to lift and move product (50lbs) when needed and use safety equipment (ladders).
• Basic PC skills with MS Office knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
