At Bushel Boy's Packhouse Supervisor, based in Owatonna, MN, you will provide overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of our product packing operation through the management of eight to twelve team members in a manner that insures quality standards are upheld, maximizes operational efficiencies, and contributes to profitability. We will rely on you to deliver high production output, uphold food safety standards, ship high quality products, and reduce waste. Critical to your success is your ability to maintain work team safety while controlling overhead/labor costs and packing operations.

Your ability to juggle multiple projects and see each project through to completion will not go unnoticed. As Bushel Boy's Packhouse Supervisor, you will:

    • Must be hands-on with employees in a labor-intensive environment.
    • Ability to work effectively with other functions (harvest crew, warehouse personnel, maintenance team etc.)
    • Oversight of packers, graders and general labor employees for the packing of fresh produce, operating high tech sorting equipment, and time-based production management.
    • Ensures product packing reports, timecards, shipping & receiving documents are processed accurately and in a timely, efficient manner. Documents employee attendance & disciplinary actions.
    • Process Management: Inventory control management, bar coding.
    • Works directly with GM and Head Grower to control expense, including labor and overhead cost.
    • Employee Safety: Ensure the safety of all employees, at all times.
    • Facilities Management: Solid technical operating skills in a food environment, including sorting, weighing, working condition of equipment, food safety, maintenance systems, production and inventory control and information systems.
    • Good Management Practices, Quality Assurance & Food Safety: Ability to develop appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance within agreed upon operational practices, applicable laws and GAP/GMP food safety requirements.
    • Maintains a status of “audit ready packing facility”.
    • Assure local and national regulatory compliance including but not limited to OSHA, USDA, FDA, FSMA, GAP, GMP.
    • Guarantees the facility and equipment are properly maintained and regularly scheduled facility and equipment sanitation programs are executed. Maintains proper housekeeping and sanitation of the facility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred OR equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Must have 5+ years of produce packing experience
  • Clean driving record and Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Forklift certified a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Interpersonal skills required.
  • Preferred: bilingual in Spanish to communicate with majority Spanish speaking workforce.
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • To work nights or weekends as business needs arise.
