We are seeking a hands-on Software Developer (Tableau) with a proven background in designing and developing high performing and secure Tableau visualizations and dashboards.  This person will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing Tableau dashboards, and providing best practices.  Leveraging excellent communication skills, the incumbent socializes technical concepts and builds consensus, and provides training to internal clients and team members. 

The ideal candidate is a quick learner, adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and a Tableau enthusiast that enjoys educating others on the subject.

Currently, this position is 100% telework, however, as our company starts to return to our new normal, a hybrid work pattern, this position may be required to periodically work on-site at our office, and the frequency would depend on the department/division's requirements. Therefore, candidates must either reside within a reasonable distance to commute to our office, or be willing to travel to our office in Herndon and/or Pittsburgh, when required.

Preferred Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.  A combination of education and experience, including through military service will also be considered.
• 5+ years of overall IT experience with 3 years of experience in developing Tableau dashboards.
• Advanced proficiency in developing visualizations using Tableau Desktop and deploying those visualizations to Tableau Server using database platforms like Oracle, Postgres, AWS Redshift etc.
• Experience in:
  • Tableau tools such as: Tableau Desktop Professional and Tableau Server.
  • Developing role-based security necessary for securing external facing dashboards, highly preferred.
  • Debugging and resolving performance issues with visualizations and dashboards using performance recording and other available features on Tableau desktop and server.
• Understanding of ETL processes and tools, preferably Oracle Data Integrator, Informatica, or a related tool.
• Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong SQL writing Skills for developing SQL scripts and database platforms like Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server.
• Knowledge of data modeling concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an Agile environment working effectively in a team setting, and drive projects forward within a team setting.
• Excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to present technical information to both a technical/non-technical audience.
• Actively seeks out learning opportunities to grow technical and leadership competencies.
• Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA or may be performed remotely from any of the following states: AL, CA, CO, FL, GA, KY, ME, MD, NV, NJ, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WY.
• Are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a good faith basis for seeking an exemption from this requirement. 

Additional Desired Requirements:

• Possession of Tableau certifications like Specialist Desktop, Data Analysts or Certified Associate Server
• Experience with:
  • Design of ETL scripts and data-related Web Services.
  • Working with large datasets.
