Staff Accountant

R.L. Fortin, LLC is expanding our team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in various aspects. It is essential that this candidate bring an analytical mindset and strong organizational skills in order to best complement our team.

Responsibilities

•  Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
•  Basic knowledge of federal income tax laws
•  Maintain awareness of recent business events impacting small and medium sized business entities
•  Maintain strong personal time management skills
•  An ability to communicate clearly and effectively - verbally and written
•  Be detail oriented and able to multi-task

Job Duties

• Complete accounts payable, sales tax compliance, payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and monthly bookkeeping services
• Participate in communications with clients regarding tax compliance
• Preparation of individual income tax returns (form 1040)
• Preparation of tax trial balances
• Preparation of business income tax returns (forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041)
• Assist professional staff with preparation of financial statements (SSARS 21 Engagements)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting preferred
• 0 - 2 years' experience in accounting
• Overtime hours expected during busy season
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team based environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel

In office role in Huntsville, AL - not a remote position.
