Sr. Disaster Recovery/ Business Continuity Specialist

Hire EIQ is working with a high-profile data-driven health system in the Chicago area to identify individuals to join their growing cybersecurity team. This position is crucial to building an advanced team which will help the organization navigate during a time of organizational growth. You will have direct input into the strategy, tools and overall program.

This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible with temporary Covid-19 work from home protocol. This role has on-call duties for production problems or investigating incidents during off hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays.

Role:

  • Serve as the cybersecurity point of contact for enterprise Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity (BCDR) services.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new business continuity, disaster management, and recovery services and technologies across organization.
  • Facilitate IT disaster response/crisis management activities to help ensure continuity of our technical and clinical operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between business, clinical, technical, and application teams to ensure HIT infrastructure and application BCDR requirements are understood, interpreted, implemented correctly, and comply with organization standards.
  • Consult with technical teams and application owners to correctly specify the architectural considerations required to meet or exceed Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
  • Perform periodic audits of existing BCDR and Incident Response plans and report to management on any improvements that need to be made.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the overall plans for executing major Incident Response and Disaster Recovery procedures within the HIT department.
  • Partner with legal, marketing, human resources, emergency/crisis management, communications, and others to deliver all aspects of the incident response and disaster plans.
  • Investigate incidents affecting clinical and non-clinical systems and applications, taking corrective actions as necessary to restore system availability with minimal data loss.
  • Help provide and coordinate disaster preparedness training and facilitate incident response and continuity tabletop exercises.
  • Contribute to response and recovery operations testing throughout the HIT department.
  • Develop technical, training, testing, project management and operational documentation as required.

Additionally:
  • Participate in and lead appropriate planning sessions, status meetings, and team and department meetings related to assigned responsibilities and team initiatives.
  • Assist with all phases of system and vendor selection including requirements gathering, evaluation, workflow analysis, build, test, optimization, management and support.
  • Partner with HIT leaders on continuous improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing risk management and risk assessment evaluations, including identifying prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide operational status reports and metrics on the program processes and functions.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or Liberal Arts is preferred.  An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCF) or Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP) designations are preferred.
  • Minimum six years of experience in with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity (BCDR) in complex, inter-dependent environments is required. 8 or more years preferred.
  • Deep understanding of current recovery solutions and high availability architectures for physical data centers and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Expert understanding of incident management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Excellent technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and translate technical terminology and related aspects of projects/tasks.
  • Ability to work alone and in a team setting.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of healthcare applications, trends and industry standards a plus.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity industry standard frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO, and CSA a plus.
