Role Summary
The Senior Compensation Analyst project-manages large scale annual compensation programs (merit planning, benchmarking, annual incentive pay cycle), provides ad hoc compensation analyses and ongoing compensation program delivery to support Alaska and Horizon’s growing employee population. Under the general direction of the Manager, Compensation, this highly analytical individual contributor independently conducts complex compensation analyses and executes compensation processes with an eye for process improvement and a streamlined experience for client groups, other members of the People Team, and external candidates.
Key Duties
• Applies in-depth understanding of compensation principles, company policy, and labor market compensation trends to support the administration of employee compensation programs, including cash compensation and company-wide incentive programs.
• Conducts complex quantitative analyses, primarily using Excel; performs research as needed to support the compensation team in solving compensation-related issues.
• Generates in-depth reports and analyses; drafts compensation recommendations to senior management.
• Creates and manages multi-stakeholder project plans for annual administration of large scale compensation programs, such as incentive plans, salary planning, merit cycle, year-end and proxy reporting, and other projects.
• Serves as an escalation point for day-to-day compensation processes, including job offer recommendations for both internal and external candidates.
• Represents the compensation team on cross-functional projects requiring significant coordination between teams.
• Stays abreast of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Job-Specific Skills & Education
Required
• A minimum of 5 years of compensation experience
• A Bachelor’s degree
• Good working knowledge of compensation compliance and related regulations
• Mathematical aptitude, analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Strong Excel knowledge
• High integrity and ability to handle sensitive confidential information
• Ability to influence and communicate effectively while balancing the big picture with detail
• Highly collaborative style and strong team orientation
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
• Strong interest in process development and continuous improvement
• Ideally full time position, but we are flexible and will take part time.
