Transportation is one part of a large system of services provided to children and families. It plays an important role in supporting the overall goals of the program. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of children and parents/families between program activities and home and on field trips and helping to keep the vehicle clean and in safe operating conditions at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Follows the safest and most efficient routes possible given the location of the children and center, as determined with the staff person in charge of transportation services and with the person in charge at each center.
2) Obeys all applicable laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers.
3) Maintains route schedule.
4) Drives for regular class days, organized field trips and occasional evening meetings.
5) Monitors and maintains all vehicle fluid levels.
6) Keeps the interior of the vehicle clean at all times.
7) Cleans the exterior of the vehicle as weather allows.
8) Maintains required paperwork for vehicle maintenance and program requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The minimum requirement is high school diploma or GED and a current in-state Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a School Bus and/or Passenger endorsement and/or other criteria specifically required by the state.
