JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, performs specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
1. Performs at least two separate modalities in Diagnostic Imaging such as: X-ray and either Angiography or
Computed Tomography of the following areas: neuro, abdominal, chest and extremities. Assists physicians
in performing other fluoroscopic procedures as needed.
2. Transports patients by stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking. Provides care for patients during
transportation and within the department, if necessary.
3. Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on the x-ray table. Provides bedpans and urinals as
needed. Assures that patients are properly dressed for procedures.
4. Prepares patient for their exam by consenting, explaining exam and answering patient questions.
Administers contrast and other preparations as to complete exam in a timely fashion. Cares for patient
during procedures by assisting them to rest rooms, providing blankets, etc.
5. Monitors patient condition pre and post-procedure and reports changes in the patient's condition to
Radiologist or RN for follow-up.
6. Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
7. Pulls contrast from Pyxis per protocol and documents contrast in eMar per protocol.
8. Loads the power injector for contrast studies.
9. Technologist may give contrast medias and may flush lines with normal saline contrast/normal saline.
10. Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may pull Xilocaine for procedure.
11. Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may use heparinized saline to flush catheters.
12. Performs data entry in computer systems necessary for work flow and patient care, such as: ITS, Meditech,
PACS, WITT, eMar and Pyxis.
13. Performs related duties such as reporting equipment malfunctions, assisting others, and special
assignments. Cleans work area and replenishes supplies.
14. Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services to maintain working knowledge of
changes in machines, and protocols,. Maintains CEU’s and CPR for license.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA: QUALITY OF WORK
QUALITY:
Completes requested radiographic, ultrasound, CT, and fluoroscopic examinations with a high level of technical quality, including but not limited to the following:
• Patient identification (check patient wristband) and proper film I.D., i.e., patient name, proper side markers, etc.
• Proper patient positioning
• Proper exposure technique
• Proper radiation protection techniques
Obtains medical history, explains procedures and completes necessary documentation.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrates job knowledge through department competencies for each area of responsibility.
DEPENDABILITY:
Assumes responsibility for own actions, including follow-up and completion of tasks in an effective and timely manner.
Fulfills departmental and Hospital responsibilities including: attending staff meetings as appropriate, reading all meeting minutes and posted communications, participating in departmental performance improvement activities, attending all Hospital and department-specific required inservices, and maintaining an active role in problem solving and resolution.

Uses free time between procedures to maintain a safe work environment, ensure adequate levels of supplies, assist with x-ray files and reports when necessary, maintain QA for equipment.
ATTENDANCE:
Assumes responsibility for attendance and punctuality in order to promote the efficient operation of the Hospital and essential components of solid employee performance. Poor attendance and tardiness disrupt productivity and make it difficult to function effectively. Each employee shall be responsible for being present at the correct time each day. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Stays current with field of practice through journals, articles and other pertinent literature. Attends approved inservices and workshops
Maintains twelve (12) type “A” CEU’s each year.

POPULATION – SPECIFIC CARE:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the populations served. This includes demonstrating knowledge of the principles of caring for the following, but not limited to, geriatric, pediatric, developmentally-challenged, special needs and physically-challenged, and various diagnoses, interventions, procedures and operations performed for patients served.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. Education: Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the AMA. 2. Licensure: CRT, ARRT certificates and Fluoroscopy license are required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required. Valid California Driver’s License required.
3. Experience: At least one year of experience as a licensed Radiologic technologist and 1 year of experience in either CT or Angiography/Special Procedures preferred.
4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Knowledge of radiographic equipment and radiation safety (patient and operator). The ability to assist with patient injections and changing dressings requires the use of fine motor skills and precise hand/eye coordination.
5. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, public and co-workers. Work requires ability to communicate effectively about complex matters with others who have varying levels of comprehension and knowledge (written and oral).
6. Essential Physical Requirements: See attached “Physical Requirements Sheet”.
7. Essential Mental Abilities: The ability to evaluate a patient's condition such as respiratory, cardio pulmonary or neuro, and be able to respond to changes due to contrast reactions.
8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Must be able to hear, see, verbally communicate, and have tactile sense. Must be able to visually evaluate patient conditions, such as redness of skin, hives, etc. 9. Performance Improvement: Assumes active role in the department’s Continuous Performance Improvement Program. Develops, implements and assesses Continuous Performance Improvement efforts as assigned.
SALARY: $63.73 - $84.83,
Shift Differential pay:
· $2 an hour for shifts 3pm – 11pm
· $4 an hour for shifts 11pm – 7am
