Purchasing Coordinator

Valco Melton is currently searching for a new Purchasing Coordinator to join the Purchasing Team at our world headquarters in Cincinnati. The Purchasing Coordinator will develop supply chains for industrial engineered products encompassing machined and electrical components, castings, injection-molded components, sheet metal, and commercial components.

Applicants for this position must possess the intuition to create options and quickly implement them in order to alleviate the effects of unexpected changes. This position requires someone who is organized, self-driven, and able to self-manage. Minimal travel, minimal overtime. Hours will be 8-5, Monday through Friday.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Issue purchase orders, review open orders, and track supplier order acknowledgments.
• Evaluate and select suppliers while balancing quality, cost, and delivery.
• Develop new vendors to meet our strategic goals and implement plans to achieve said goals.
• Liaise with selected suppliers to enforce promise dates, manage deliveries, and resolve invoicing and quality issues.
• Manage sourcing through all phases of a product's life cycle to achieve production requirements with a focus on cost control.
• Troubleshoot and recover when changes in demand, quality or costing occur.
• Understand manufacturing processes and associated costs.
• Read and understand blueprints as necessary.
• Analyze quotes as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. degree or ISM or APICS certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively between production, engineering, and suppliers.

Note: applicants who will complete their bachelor’s degree within 4 months of applying to this position will be considered as having met the educational requirement.

Preferred Competencies:

• ~5 years’ experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the metal fabrication/machining industry.
• AS400 and MRP planning experience.
