Job Responsibilities

• Function autonomously to conduct patient histories and physicals for complex critical, chronically ill, and acute patients.
• Order, perform, and analyze diagnostic and therapeutic tests concerning the needs of the patient, and follow up on a regular basis to ensure their needs are being adequately met.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities to ensure the health and comfort of all patients.
• Implement measures to assist patients in regaining and sustaining physiologic endurance to include serving in the first assisting role.
• Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals and monitoring the effectiveness of all interventions.
• Facilitate the staff and the patient as well as the family decision-making process by providing educational tools for self-management of acute or chronic illnesses.

Locums, Inc. is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a year-long, part-time contract placement with a client in Houston, TX. Texas state PMHNP license needed.

About the Opportunity:

- Period of Performance is approx. 9/15/20 to 9/14/21

- Patients are to be seen at the client’s health center as well as virtually via telemedicine

- Hours will be approx. 8 per week – scheduling to be negotiated with client

- Patients are primarily students but can also include client staff

- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner duties to include evaluation, re-evaluations, follow-ups, medication management, service referrals, and consultation with students and staff for full range of Psychiatric disorders.  Will be responsible for prescribing medications and completing appropriate paperwork

- Paid Malpractice insurance provided

Requirements:

- Active and unrestricted Texas state license

- Certified PMHNP

- Active and unrestricted Texas DEA registration

- Minimum of 3 professional references

- Sub-specialty certification in Addiction Psychiatry and/or Addiction Medicine preferred
