Qualifications:
· A Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.
· A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferred in an Engineering discipline or equivalent; or a minimum of six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Required is experience leading technical projects
· Experience leading projects involving new process introduction in a production machining environment
· Experience with root cause analyses and corrective/preventive actions
· Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other process control mechanisms and functions.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents, including general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Ability to read complex prints and has a working knowledge of GD&T terms and applications
Basic Function: This position serves as a Process Engineer as well as acting as the Lead Process Engineer within the Operations Department. Assists the Director of Operations in coordinating department Engineers to drive operational efficiency, optimize process flows, and maximize profits by performing the essential duties personally or through Engineering team members. This position is a significant component of the company's Quality System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinates activities of all engineering personnel within the Operations department.
· Evaluates existing manufacturing processes and recommend/implement improvements/changes that increase efficiency, reduce cost, and eliminate waste.
· Support product development and continuous process improvement by reviewing new product opportunities; assessing competitive alternatives; enabling the performance of engineering test plans; employing equipment needs and modifications assessment, coordinating production activities of auxiliary staff including Engineering.
· Collaborates cross-functionally with all departments in the launch of newly developed technologies, equipment, and processes.
· Drives/supports the performance, development, growth, and engagement of a team of technical engineering resources within the Operations team.
· Applies project management principles, (planning, monitoring, reporting, and control of cost, time, and resources) and prepares detailed plans for particular tasks under his/her control.
· Conducts necessary studies, analysis, investigations, estimating, and testing to complete projects.
· Works within a Project Team environment to introduce cost savings projects on the manufacturing floor.
· Prepares process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Communicates and collaborates effectively with other departments, customers, and vendors as needed to accomplish goals and meet targets.
· Supports both internal and external audit activities as a technical leader and subject matter expert with regards to production and process controls, change controls, continuous improvement activities, etc.
· Evaluates and test alternative products that improve the company's technical manufacturing capabilities, resulting in technology enhancement, throughput increase, cost reduction, and yield improvement.
· Oversees and participates in the creation of manufacturing methods from prints provided by customers to achieve specifications.
· Oversees and participates in the development of manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment vendors.
· Oversees, directs, and participates in the use of process control, repeatability, and stability through SPC, engineering controls, control charts, and other effective process management methods.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
· Must comply with all ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements; work instructions for the job; all Company Safety rules; and all other Company rules, policies, and procedures.
· Carry out special projects and all other appropriate and reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.
