Summary

The Plastic Extrusion Engineer plans, designs, and completes projects in extrusion manufacturing. Creates and implements new products/processes. Works with all functions within the Company and with outside vendors to coordinate implementation of new capital manufacturing equipment and processes to optimize production and increase capacity.

 

Essential Functions

Seeking applicants with Plastic Profile Extrusion Experience

 

  • Design & develop new plastic extrusion tooling, and implement new tooling.
  • Coordinates research & development of new plastic tooling.
  • Involved in improvement and support of manufacturing production and the quality process.
  • Perform cost improvement projects and quality improvement projects to reach manufacturing goals.
  • Implement and modify manufacturing task documents in coordination with new tooling and process improvements.
  • Participate in the selection of extrusion compounds.
  • Ensure all test methods specified in acceptance or installation protocols are properly defined and have acceptable measurement systems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.


Physical Demands
Engineers have direct contact with production following the creation of product from start to finish.  Eye, ear, and footwear protection are required in the manufacturing areas of the facility. 

 

 

Qualifications/Education/Experience

  • BA or BS. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science, Manufacturing) required and/or 4+ years’ experience in Plastic Profile Extrusion Designer / Engineer. (Sheet, film, or tube extrusion experience is not applicable).
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Knowledge of engineered plastics (PVC, ABS) is required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable – adjusts to changing demands, priorities, and objectives.
  • Dedicated and takes pride in providing a high level of detail towards projects.
