Manage strategic accounting activities, and the production of various financial statements, reports, and statistics reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial results.
Formulates and administers approved accounting practices to ensure consistent and accurate financial and operating reports correctly reflect the condition of the business.
Provide financial and operational support to Operations/Functions while ensuring compliance
and controls are in place.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses for a business unit.
Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
Oversee associates responsible for billing and accounts receivable.
Participate in inventory reconciliation monthly, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
Evaluate direct and indirect costs, and job cost using labor, materials and overhead.
Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes.
Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases, as needed.
Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
Participate in the development and confirmation of accurate financial reporting by gaining consensus from multiple functional groups.
Prepare and communicate benchmarking analyses.
Participate in business unit strategic planning team in developing strategic goals and milestones.
Manage, coach and lead staff, including hiring, managing performance, career paths and succession planning.
Participate in business team and business unit senior leadership meetings.
Participate in business unit strategic planning activities.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong numerical proficiency
Good problem-solving skills and excellent use of logic
Knowledge of current budgeting and forecasting methods
Knowledge of business processes and cost drivers that are critical to the business
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Demonstrated project management, leadership, and supervisory skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and manage around strategic long-term plans
Ability to collect and assemble data for the development of financial reports
Ability to analyze complex information and formulate decisions
Ability to operate a computer and supporting software packages
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required, advanced degree desirable
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desired, but not required
EXPERIENCE:
7+ years of demonstrated accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
