Part Time Infant Teacher Needed, With Opportunity for More Hours 
 
Aspen Leaf Preschool and Nursery is a Reggio-inspired, teacher-owned and -operated preschool in North Park. We offer a collaborative and friendly work environment, excellent training opportunities, and competitive salary. 
 
We are currently looking to hire a fully-qualified teacher to work part-time in the Infant classroom.  The typical hours will be 1pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday, with an opportunity to work more hours in the morning when needed. In order to be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following qualifications: 
 
• Education: Must have at least 12 postsecondary semester units in early childhood education from an accredited college or university. The units specified must cover child growth and development; child, family, and community; and program/curriculum. 
• Must have or be enrolled in a class that will provide 3 infant/toddler units. 
• Experience: At least 6 months of previous early childhood teaching experience required. Reggio experience preferred but not necessary. 
• Personal Qualities: Must be friendly, responsible, inviting, self-motivated, even-tempered, and adaptable. 
• Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Must have current TB test and be vaccinated against Measles and Pertussis. 
• Criminal Justice Background Check / Fingerprint Clearance required. 
• Must have strong computer and equipment skills. 
• Must have current First Aid and CPR certification.

 At Aspen Leaf Preschool, we understand that each child is different and brings his or her own unique traits to the classroom. For this reason, we realize that it is important to focus on the individual child. We develop personalized plans that focus on the whole child and promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
 

At Aspen Leaf Preschool, we utilize an emergent curriculum, which structures lessons and activities around the children’s burgeoning interests. The children learn language, math, science, and social studies through a variety of activities that are centered around topics that “emerge” from observing the children.
 

Our experienced teachers observe and talk to the children in order to discern what they would like to learn. Once a topic is chosen, our teachers set up the learning environment to encourage exploration of the topic. Together with the children, they select and plan activities that revolve around the topic. These activities include number and letter games, art projects, field trips, and more.
 

Each class learns through a variety of structured and unstructured learning experiences. Unstructured learning happens when children are provided with a safe, engaging environment in which to play, explore, interact, and discover on their own. Structured learning experiences are planned by the teachers and by the students. They include art and cooking activities, science projects, games, songs, stories, and more.
