RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform professional level work in meeting and conducting assessment, medication evaluation and management, treatment planning and discharge planning services to adult individuals and families.
Responsible for treatment plan coordination, referent relations, payor relations, and intervention with client support systems.

EXPECTATIONS:

Provides basic care management services to the mentally ill in a clinical setting.
Assists with intakes and assessing admission criteria for admission.
Provides therapeutic interventions, medication assessment and crisis response to new and existing clients.
Responsible for psychotherapy services and participates in establishing diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, evaluation and follow-up of patients or clients.
Requests personality, intelligence, and other clinical tests and guides therapy based on their results.
Maintains documentation of services including treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, and other required information in compliance with Hospital and other third party agencies requirements.
Fosters/maintains positive public relations with patients, families, visitors and staff.
Demonstrates ability to interact in positive/helpful manner with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers.
Uses effective problem solving techniques and is able to resolve complaints and implement solutions.
Demonstrates proper telephone technique and etiquette.
Shows sensitivity to differences in culture.
Presents self in a professional image to internal and external agencies staff.
Participates with the health care team to maintain continuity of care.
Consults with and advises representatives of interested groups in furthering the program regarding the care and therapy of patients or clients.
Provides consultation and health education to Hospital Staff as it is relevant to the treatment and medication needs of Hospital consumers.

Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Completion of a Master's Degree or, post-Master's Degree in Nursing within the psychiatry specialty area from an accredited college or university.
Professional Certification, License:
Possession of current license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner as granted by New York State.

Specialized Knowledge:

Knowledge of the principles of psychotherapy applicable to care, treatment and rehabilitation of children and adults with behavioral, developmental or psychological disturbances.
Knowledge of psychological testing devices and methods.
