JOB DESCRIPTION:
We have a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Engineering Manager position available in our Wilmington, MA office.
The MES Engineering Manager will provide team leadership in delivering MES solutions for the life science and manufacturing industries.
This position is a leadership role within the MES Center of Excellence team and requires strong problem-solving ability, well-balanced people skills, an aptitude for business efficiency, and an interest in creating partnerships.
The MES Engineering Manager demonstrates success by leading the engineering team to achieve the business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering team leadership; Project development and execution; task identification, prioritization, and scheduling; early problem identification and conflict resolution; hardware/software requisition; supporting other engineers in group and attending project status meetings. Responsibilities also include:
Establish, lead and mentor the MES Center of Excellence team.
Develop industry best practices and whitepapers for MES in the life science and manufacturing industries.
Lead the internal and external training program.
Accumulates and/or generates methodology, lessons learned, templates, efficiency tools, etc. to streamline project execution.
Develop strategic MES channel relationships.
Manage and develop client relationships.
Responsible to work with clients to develop technical assessment and design solutions to improve their manufacturing systems and maximizing overall business value.
Lead the MES platform evaluation and selection.
Develop project proposals including detailed sections for scope, schedule, and budget.
Assist in closing new business by gaining the confidence of owner with technical knowledge and experience.
Responsible for engineering related purchasing and subcontractor requirements
Responsible for development of costs and proposal of change orders to contract scope.
Responsible for the design, implementation, documentation, testing, commissioning, and qualification of the MES projects
Technical writing including project definition and requirements, clearly delineated status reporting, process control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence and code commenting.
Assigns work to meet overall project deadlines.
Ensures that all project team members clearly understand the scope of WM engineering responsibilities.
Serve as subject matter expert for all systems and projects developed and maintained by the MES team.
Ensures compliance with all regulations, codes, etc. as they apply to the contract and project(s)
Responsible to establish a safe and inclusive working culture.
Travel may be required to support various project deployments and training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – At a minimum BS degree in engineering or related discipline (Computer Science, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering degree preferred). Technical degree and equivalent experience may be substituted.
Experience – Greater than 10 years with capabilities in below areas is preferred:
Design, development, implementation, and testing of life sciences compatible MES solutions
Prior experience with MES platforms such as Syncade, PAS-X, PharmaSuite, POMSnet Aquila, Apprentice.io, and/or Tulip
Advanced proficiency in Instrumentation and Controls
Must be well versed in manufacturing information systems and familiar with manufacturing operations and enterprise applications.
Strong business process understanding across manufacturing.
Experience with ISA S95 and S88 standards
Experience working in cGMP and/or regulated environments.
Proficient in MES interfaces with enterprise and manufacturing applications
Proficient in hardware, computing, and networking infrastructure
Proficient in MES software and application configuration
Good engineering and documentation practice
Experience (or strong desire to learn) in using collaboration tools such as SharePoint and TEAMS for project execution.
Programming and relational databases
Integrating Industry 4.0 technologies
Exceptional verbal and written ability with the aptitude to communicate professionally with client and project leadership.
Strong leadership and client relation skills required.
Management experience working with cross functional teams and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to lead engineering team in transforming technical concepts into executable initiatives.
Understanding of life sciences validation processes
Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), support methodologies, and GAMP5
Ability to work across multiple concurrent activities and successfully adapt to changing priorities as required.
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a subordinate, a peer, and a customer
