MEDICAL ASSISTANT WITH FRONT DESK EXPERIENCE
 

SUMMARY:

The primary role for this position is that of a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant aids and assists the practitioner and medical staff in various patient care activities. This is a clinical position which also includes administrative duties. A secondary requirement for the position includes the typical duties of a Medical Front Desk Receptionist.
 

MEDICAL ASSISTANT DUTIES:

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Prepare patients for the physician
  • Record patient medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize tasks
  • Inventory medical supplies and equipment
  • Perform medical related clerical work

MEDICAL FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST DUTIES:

  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries
  • Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by checking in the patient in a timely fashion
  • Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating demographic and financial information
  • Schedule patient appointments at the end of the visit
  • Maintain open communication with the pre-cert team regarding orders for daily patients

REQUIREMENTS:

  • HIPPA and OSHA compliance; promote a safe work environment at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with medical staff and explain procedures to patients
  • Caring demeanor towards patients and co-workers
  • Clinical knowledge and terminology
  • Working knowledge of computers, fax, copiers and other technology
  • Strong administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Prior medical receptionist experience, preferably in a spine or orthopedic practice is a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate or higher degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Some experience in the role of a Medical Front Desk Receptionist
