Mechanical Designer/Drafter

Essential job functions:

• The incumbent will work closely with Engineering, developing their thoughts and sketches into layouts, drawings, and schematics.
• Should have ability to create conceptual designs, and to create design layouts for exploring various design approaches. They should be able to use judgment to evaluate and present design alternatives. The Design Drafter will have the latitude to make design decisions to the level most comfortable to the responsible Engineer.
• At times, it will be necessary for him/her to work with other disciplines to discuss design or fabrication requirements and feasibility. This interface includes but is not limited to Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Operations Engineering, Machine Shop, and possibly outside vendors.
• The design drafting process requires the incumbent to utilize Siemens Teamcenter/NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) System to produce a variety of drawings and layouts to enable better visualization, clearance checks, and provide manufacturing information for Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) operations. Therefore, competent usage of CAD equipment is essential.
• This position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a technical major, preferably in Mechanical Technology with a minimum of 4 years Drafting/Design experience.
