Please Note: This is a commission-only, contract position.

Our growing boutique consulting firm, Synergy Management Group, is seeking a Managing Director, Business Development to develop and implement business development strategies and close projects for SMG.

The primary focus of the position is identifying and closing $100K-$1M+ consulting engagements with institutional investors (private equity & venture capital) within our four main service areas (see https://synergymg.com/).

This is a partner track role, initially structured as a remote contract position.

1 Month Challenge: You will be required to close a $100K+ new client engagement using your rolodex/network and our firm's leads/pipeline (to a limited extent) within the first 30 days of your engagement.
 

Candidates should have 20+ years of senior-level experience at top-tier firms (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Accel, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley).
 

SMG provides outsourced/fractional corporate finance and growth strategy consulting services to institutional investors (private equity & venture capital), investor-backed companies, and well-capitalized, growing firms across sourcing, diligence, operations/value creation, and exit.
 

SMG engagements include: Financial Planning, Analysis, and Modeling, Valuations & Capital Raising, Commercial Due Diligence and Competitive Strategy, Buy-Side & Sell-Side Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Fractional CFO & Executive (or Interim) Leadership, Operations Performance Improvement, Turnaround & Restructuring, Growth Strategy, Post-Merger Integration.

 

Responsibilities:

  • New Client Business Development: Lead generation, proposal development, negotiation support, and closing new consulting clients for SMG.
  • Build a book of consulting business by acquiring high-ticket consulting clients, specifically in the institutional investor (Private Equity & Venture Capital) market.

Compensation:

  • Performance-based: Commission

Relevant Experience:

  • Significant experience and relationships within the institutional investor (Private Equity & Venture Capital) ecosystem.
  • Senior-level experience in Private Equity and Venture Capital.
  • Building a book of consulting business by acquiring high-ticket consulting clients, specifically in the institutional investor (Private Equity & Venture Capital) space.
  • Extensive experience in building and managing successful consulting sales teams.
  • Management consulting engagement sales/business development at top-tier or boutique firms (e.g. McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company).
