Summary of Position:
We at Nzinga’s Kitchen are looking to add to our team! This position is responsible for pre-preparation/preparation, station set up, preparation and service to order of menu items that will be cooked as ordered by a customer. The ideal team member for this position is focused, punctual and has great communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
Follow recipes and presentation specifications
Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
Restock items as needed throughout the shift
Qualifications/Skills:
Previous experience as a line cook/prep cook (preferred, but willing to train)
Willing to be crossed trained
Must be at least 18 years of age
Excellent communication and time management skills
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be a team player
Ability to complete tasks individually

Nzinga's kitchen was opened in 2014 by our Owner & Executive Chef Zuri Hester. Originally named Nzinga's Breakfast Cafe serving up Creole inspired Breakfast on the South Side of Durham. Chef Zinga is a Durham Native and has attended Hillside High and North Carolina Central for her undergrad degree in Hospitality & Tourism. She went on to Johnson & Wales to receive her culinary Training. She came back home & opened what is now called Nzinga's Kitchen. Chef started the restaurant with hopes of creating a safe space where people can enjoy & get some of the best Eats Durham has to offer.
