Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining of products within Housing and Dining. Assist the supervisor team with training of employees and ensuring all procedures are done correctly.

 

Job Details & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up, stock, clean and replenish the serving and production area before and during work hours as a lead employee. Complete food temperature logs and waste forms as required.

  • Assist supervisor with coordinating the production of all food preparation. Accurately identify food items, portion sizes and meal combinations. Assist supervisors in the training of personnel. Lead and coach staff in the operation.

  • Customer service and customer interaction. Assist in short order cooking, food preparation and serving in work area. Receive, respond and follow through with written and oral instructions from supervisors, co-workers and customers.

  • Communicate with Unit Manager and Executive Sous Chef recommendations to adjust forecast needs on a daily basis for perishable products.

  • Mopping work area when dining room is closed. Clean pots, pans, dishes and utensils as needed.

  • Greet customers and provide excellent customer service.

  • Work as a team member in a diverse environment and encourage and promote diversity. Other related functions as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a food service environment in coordinating production and serving 1000+ per meal daily, with two years of work experience in a commercial high volume food service unit.
  • Two years experience in food operation and maintenance.
  • One year experience in a leadership and training position.

 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than two years experience in a food service environment in coordinating production and serving 1000+ per meal daily.
  • More than two years experience in a leadership and training position.
  • Ability to read and follow standardized computer generated recipes. Basic computer skills for batching out recipes. 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bi-lingual preferred. 
  • Ability to delegate tasks when Chef is not present.
  • Ability to gauge the quality of produce to be used for production.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete last minute requests.

 

Salary Range

$27,560 + depending on qualifications

  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment.
