If you are a 'Jack of All Trades" and love working outdoors in scenic areas, this is the job for you!  As a Journey Maintenance and Construction Specialist on the Region Crew, you will get to do it all!  Our Region Crew accomplishes a wide variety of maintenance and construction projects on a daily basis.  The Northeast Crew services some of the most diverse and beautiful State Parks in Utah.

 

Examples of Duties

Travel to various State Parks to perform construction and maintenance projects.  Work with park staff to provide care and maintenance of park assets.  Builds, fabricates, or repairs structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints, or working drawings.  Performs general facility maintenance including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, as well as general cleaning, and sanitation.

           

Job Requirements and Skills

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license and undergo a background check upon hire.

 

Skills

*use power tools such as band saws, ripsaws, planers, etc.

*principles and practices of construction

*principles, theories, and practices of electricity

*follow written and/or oral instructions

*use and maintain a variety of hand tools

*installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment

*maintain and/or repair tools and equipment

*principles and practices of facilities operations, maintenance, and management

*perform a variety of general maintenance activities

*plumbing techniques and methodology

*install and/or maintain sprinkling systems

*fabricate, install, and repair structures and structural members

           

Other

Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions.  The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas.  The ability to work in enclosed spaces, working on the water in boats and on docks.  Applicant must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license and undergo a background check upon hire.
