Jewelry Making (After School Program)

Jewelry Design instructor needed to teach 10-15 elementary-middle school students the basics and the art of jewelry making during the 2023-2024 Fall/ Winter school year. This position is for in-person instruction, however, the ability to be flexible and teach virtual as well is recommended.

The Arts Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising jewelry-making programs and activities for youth. The Jewelry Making Instructor ensures youth development principles are incorporated into the Arts after-school program and activities; provides guidance to students; enforces discipline and order resulting in a safe and positive environment for youth; teaches techniques of a range of levels of jewelry making maintains and care for supplies and equipment.

Major Responsibilities

• Develop and implement jewelry-making sessions that enable youth to develop their creativity.
• Contribute to effectively planning programs, services, and activities.
• Instruct, coach, and direct varied activities.
• Implement goals objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for assigned programs.
• Exercise independence, judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Contributes to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success.
• Contributes to creating a team environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
• Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment.
• Contributes to ensuring that facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

• High School diploma; at least one-year of college required.
• A minimum of two years of experience working with youth ages 6 to 18 years old.
• Ability to obtain a clear background check within the agency’s timeline.
• A minimum of one year of experience working with creative and visual art programs.
• Use of equipment and tools related to the work.
• Principles related to the development of youth.
• Group leadership skills and understanding of group dynamics.

Deliverables:
Students must walk away with general knowledge of jewelry-making mediums and the ability to present finished projects for the class finale.

Compensation:
Starting at $40 hourly depending on experience +supply budget
