Oilfield Electrician / Electrical Job Summary
Electricians troubleshoot and repairs electrical problems with Oil field Equipment. Work on troubleshooting from manuals and schematics. Operate and test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work done meets specifications and safety regulations. Electricians plan electrical systems additions or modifications on secondary circuits and works on secondary electrical systems.
Oilfield Electrician / Electrical Job Responsibilities:
· Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
· Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
· Installs, examines, replaces, or repairs AC/DC Motors and Drives, PLC's, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160-volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical controls.
· Installs, examines, replaces, or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
· Sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with the CEC and/or NEC.
· Fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-Phase work, motor terminations, control and instrument troubleshooting and panel work.
· Weld and fabricate brackets and framework for new and rehab construction.
· knowledge and experience in overhead line work i.e., power lines, power poles, transformers, transformer banks, and line fuses
· Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
· Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate PPE.
· Work effectively with other plant personnel to resolve problems not necessarily related to electrical.
· Operate mobile equipment needed in performance of the job in a safe manner and within plant guidelines (forklift, man lift, bucket truck, auger)
· Actively participate and contribute to training necessary in the performance of this position.
· Perform other duties, including those not related to craft, as directed by the management.
· Occasionally oversee contractors when needed.
· Respond to callouts during non-work hours as needed.
· Make estimates of material requirements and prepare requisitions and reports.
· Personal safety and safety of all others in assigned area.
· Familiar with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out process.
· Troubleshoot all electrical systems and make recommendations for upgrades, repairs, maintenance, etc.
· Maintain work area in clean and organized condition.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

· Methods, equipment and materials used in the electrical trade.
· Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
· Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
· Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment.
· Theory of operation and use of PLC units and other computer-based equipment
· Working knowledge of blueprints, shop drawings and sketches
· Ability to work independently with little supervision and/or direction.
· Install, including programming and troubleshooting PLC based equipment.
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Completion of a recognized vocational education program in electrical/industrial electrical/industrial training OR completion of Electrical Apprenticeship Program
· Minimum of Five (2-10) years' recent industrial electrician experience
