A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR FRAUD ANALYST

As a team lead will be responsible for identifying, verifying, and correcting cardholder MasterCard and Visa account problems for credit unions. You will process all dispute types efficiently with little to no assistance from leadership. You will be responsible for training new Cardholder Recovery Services (CRS) employees and be the first point of contact for CRS escalations.

What you'll take ownership of:

  • Developing and maintaining favorable relationships with member credit unions.
  • Implementing procedures and controls developed by management to assure that high-quality service is maintained.
  • Identifying cardholder account problems and receiving supervisor approval, if needed, prior to adjusting account or initiating dispute process.
  • Processing first chargeback and monitor case status for representment and pre-arbitration response.
  • Continuing fraud and dispute cases as required within strict timeframes for the next step of 2nd chargeback, pre-arbitration, arbitration, or compliance.
  • Responding to all inquiries from user credit unions within an established time frame.
  • Completing necessary documents on all posting rejects and monitoring outcomes.
  • Assuring accurate and timely adjustment of cardholder accounts.
  • Preparing and sending correspondence to cardholders informing them of the status of their dispute.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of cardholder account information and assure that proper security procedures are followed when responding to user credit unions and cardholders.
  • Training new CRS employees with direction from CRS manager.
  • Working with CRS manager to handle escalations
  • Analyzing cases and reports for proactive fraud mitigation
  • Managing and monitoring daily IC10 reports and taking appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FRAUD ANALYST

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; education equivalent to Associate Degree with general business courses, plus more specialized courses in computer software preferred.
  • One year of previous experience with a VISA/Mastercard credit card operation and exception processing.
  • One year of experience providing customer service in a financial institution setting.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of business procedures and be able to read, understand, and comply with VISA bylaws and regulations as well as MasterCard Rules.
  • Establish and maintain operational knowledge of applicable card base processors and platforms (for example, Fiserv, FIS, TBS, Pass-Through, and Client Workstation).
  • Ability to work effectively in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work paperless with Document Imaging Printer
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to function in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor while handling difficult cardholder situations.
  • Ability to take initiative and use sound judgment and deductive reasoning when making decisions and perform with a decreasing need for supervision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of history, development, and philosophy of credit union movement.
