Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining of products within Housing and Dining.

 

Job Details & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with customers in a professional and upbeat manner. Serve a high quality product during open dining hours. Products may include performing short order or made to order cooking, while providing excellent customer service. Ability to read, follow and understand recipes.
  • Break down, clean all serving areas and equipment, and properly store, label and date left over food items from the serving line and dining area. Take and record temperatures and ensure cleaning and detail cleaning tasks are completed throughout the shift.
  • Set up, stock, clean and replenish the serving area during shift in compliance with location and food safety guidelines. Monitor, stock, and rotate inventory items. Inventory of items may in dry storage area, cooler, freezer, or beverage stations.
  • Collect and document production records before, during and after service. Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and coworkers. Seek direction at beginning of shift and keep open communication with Management and staff throughout shift.

 

Required Qualifications:

Experience following basic work instructions. Experience in stocking coolers, and maintaining work area, and preparing food in a commercial establishment. Experience preparing food in a commercial establishment with significant customer interaction. Be able to work independently and with others while working in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills with a professional demeanor.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

High school graduation or GED. 1 year or more of food preparation / recipe experience in a fast paced/high volume retail food service environment. Six months or more of experience receiving, stocking of dry items, bottled beverages, and frozen merchandise. Demonstrated ability in training and guiding other staff in their duties. Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision. Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and oral University and Housing and Food policies, procedures and work-related instructions and requests from supervisors, customers, and co-workers. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base. Have and maintain a current ServSafe Certificate or a current Travis County Food Handlers Card.

 

Salary Range:

$27,040 + depending on qualifications

 

Working Conditions:
  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished)
  • May work in extreme temperatures
  • May work around electrical and mechanical hazards
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Climbing of stairs
  • Climbing of ladders
  • Lifting and moving
  • Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds; Lifting and moving up to 62 pounds.
  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment.
