Fire Alarm Technician

Job Skills / Requirements
The Fire Alarm Technician position requires the ability to install, inspect and repair fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial buildings according to standards. May also involve programming and troubleshooting new fire alarm systems including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and system testing.

Program and troubleshoot fire alarm systems including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and system testing.
Conduct routine inspections, testing, service and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems.
Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals and specifications.
Effectively communicate status updates and meet established project deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
 

Additional Information / Benefits
Basic & Preferred Qualifications:



High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2 yrs experience working with fire alarm systems, low voltage wiring/equipment required
NICET certification preferred
Fire Alarm Specialty Technician and/or Journeyman Electrician license required; valid Drivers license required
Asbestos awareness/Specialty O&M training preferred
Electrical aptitude, specifically in working with low voltage wiring and equipment
Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications
Ability to perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as working within ducts, crawl spaces, climbing a ladder, on lift equipment, in dirty environments, extreme heat/cold, etc
Good working knowledge of computers
Excellent communication and organization skills in order to provide clear progress updates and meet deadlines
