POSITION SUMMARY
This position serves as the confidential/trusted assistant to the Pastor. The incumbent will provide a wide range of administrative support and assistance to the Pastor and is integral to the smooth operation of the historic Vermont Avenue Baptist Church. The Executive Assistant to the Pastor must profess to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Office Manager, pastoral staff and board members. Prior church work experience is a plus, but not required for this position. The Executive Assistant reports to the Pastor. This position is part-time, consisting of approximately 20 hours per week Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at a basic salary of $14.00 per hour . The incumbent will be required to open the Church on arrival.
QUALIFICATIONS
The critical and essential qualifications required for this position are:
· an extremely organized individual who has the foresight to assist with planning. Should have the ability to gather and process information and communicate in writing and orally.
• a proficiency in computer and MS Office products, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. A familiarity with the use of social media would be helpful.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The Vermont Avenue Baptist Church (VABC) is an historic 153-old Church which was started by seven previously enslaved individuals. VABC has, through the grace and mercy of God, continued to be a church led by the spirit, directed and focused on the will of God and committed to the cause of lifting the name of Jesus. We praise God for the gift of constancy that has kept our light burning, as a city set on a hill, guiding the lost, the disinherited and those in search of salvation to Him. Our church has been blessed to have had only seven pastors (and one interim pastor).
