UTILITY
LOCATION: Chili, NY
SUMMARY: Adhere to all safety guidelines and aid in areas including but not limited to sanitation, machine set-up and housekeeping. Assist the Slitter Operator in properly operating the Deacro and Slitting Machines in the safest, most effective and efficient manner while adhering to established quality standards. Visually and manually inspect finished product meeting quality standards while working effectively as a member of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation’s efforts to achieve a zero accident rate.
· Participate in developing, understanding and following all SOP’s.
· Read, understand, interpret and utilize all information retrieved from job jackets, print spec sheets and the Op spec sheets.
· Perform and manage all necessary cleaning and housekeeping duties.
· Perform and manage machine set-ups/changeovers by utilizing the information on job jackets, print spec sheets and the Op spec sheets.
· Possess a thorough understanding of the quality standards. Conduct, document, interpret and act upon all data obtained during QA tests.
· Visually and manually inspect finished product ensuring all customer quality standards are achieved.
· Be actively involved in machine changeovers to slitter operators in this process.
· Be able to demonstrate the procedure/knowledge of the bar code system in order to ensure accurate inventory control.
· Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This includes all Quality Assurance tests and daily Production Reports which document production, waste and set-up time.
· Successfully qualify and operate core cutter.
· Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).
· Safely operate a fork truck to remove printed rolls from pallets and stack racks slitter machine operation.
· Comply with all company policies and procedures.
· Perform Slitter Operator duties to provide coverage for breaks, vacation, and or absences.
· Business travel may be required.
· Any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or GED
· Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not necessary
· Acceptable prior work history
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute percentages and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles (works in an environment where solvent based inks are used). The employee frequently works in high, precarious places, in humid conditions (summer humidity, plant is not air conditioned), and is exposed to electrical shock (only authorized maintenance personnel are allowed access to electrical cabinets). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is mandated. Safety glasses and steel toed shoes with anti-static discharge soles are required.
