Job Description: Employer Defense Attorney (Workers' Compensation, Employment, and Subrogation Law)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Defense Attorney to join our client's legal team in California. This role focuses on workers' compensation, employment law, and subrogation matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of defending clients in these areas and possess deep knowledge of California state laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Case Management: Handle a diverse caseload of workers' compensation, employment, and subrogation cases from inception to resolution.
Client Representation: Represent clients in all stages of litigation, including depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
Legal Research and Writing: Conduct thorough legal research and draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
Advisory Services: Provide strategic legal advice to clients on compliance with state and federal employment laws and workers' compensation regulations.
Negotiation: Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, ensuring favorable outcomes while minimizing litigation costs.
Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategies and ensure effective case management.
Client Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, providing updates and explaining legal strategies and potential outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
License: Active membership in the California, Colorado, or Florida State Bar. Plus reside in either state.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of California workers' compensation laws, employment laws, and subrogation practices.
Attributes: High ethical standards, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
