Thompson is seeking an experienced Exceptional Children’s Teacher to serve as Education Manager. The Education Manager should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams. The Education Manager will be responsible for developing, completing and maintaining a caseload of Individual Education Plans. The Education Manager will be working with youth between the ages of 6-17 years of age that have mental health diagnosis as well as display emotional and behavioral difficulties. This position also supervises the PRTF teaching staff and the expressive arts manager.
Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility. Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary. Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.
This position will be required to uphold standards set by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Applicant must demonstrate a minimum of two years of experience and must have a Bachelors in Education with a current North Carolina teaching license in Special Education. Candidate must also display capabilities of leadership within the school setting. For consideration, staff must be at least 23 years of age.
Position requires driving agency vehicle as well as transporting clients. A valid driver’s license in the state of your permanent residence, at least 3 years of driving with a driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
