Distribution Scheduler

POSITION SUMMARY:  Directs assigned distribution activities at the Mt Hope location. Direct activities of workers concerned with receiving and shipping materials in warehouse, by performing the following duties personally or through other staff members. Coordinates distribution activities at Mt Hope for designated sales territories by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Distribution Duties:

• Have an intimate knowledge of the computer programs relating to distribution at the Mt Hope location, as well as operation of those programs efficiently and independent of others.
• Works with Distribution Leader to maintain adequate seed supplies for delivery.
• Double checks to make sure correct batch numbers and varieties are set up for loads prior to truck being loaded.
• Selects the Dairyland Seed trucks and outside contract carriers to make deliveries. Routes and schedules dealer deliveries in the assigned Mt Hope, WI distribution area as efficiently as possible.
• Ensures that all assigned drivers hours of service are in compliance with Department of Transportation Regulations.
• Follow and participate in all EHS&S programs on site.
• Keep track of loads in progress from appropriate warehouses.
• Take distribution and customer phone calls regarding loads and deliveries.
• Provides feedback to Distribution Manager in West Bend as to the activities in the Mt Hope distribution area.
• Maintains good dealer and DSM relationships and assures that a professional image is displayed at all times during the distribution process by all.
• Keep in contact with DSMs that are assigned to you, to help coordinate shipping
• Coordinate letters, texts, and phone calls to customers in designated areas informing them of the date of their seed delivery.
• Run queries per DM requests.
• Hire outside contract carriers as needed to ensure timely delivery of seed.
• Forwards load sheets, shipping orders, and return paperwork to processor in a timely manner.
• Maintain Distribution procedures and policies.
• Manage and oversee filing of distribution paperwork in assigned territories.
• Checks returned shipping orders or credits for comment and phone changes and preps paperwork for invoicing.
• Assist with Bill of Ladings as needed.
• Assists with order calls and local account order entries in D-Connect.
• Assists with walk in customers at Mt Hope.
• Oversee support staff duties as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Effective communication skills
  • Microsoft office product knowledge
  • AS/400 knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and reach with hands, arms, and fingers.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The lifting requirement for this job is limited to 30 pounds. Any lifting over 30 pounds is to be maneuvered by two or more workers and/or mechanical means (i.e. dolly, pallet jack, forklift, etc), as appropriate. To operate a forklift, employee must be certified.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
