Diamond Turning Technician
This position involves integration into a multi-shift team charged with the highest precision machining at Optimax. Through diamond turning, the team produces optically useful surfaces to the limits of tolerancing. Those with high spatial skills and mechanical acumen work as a part of a manufacturing team, solving manufacturing process problems and demonstrate measurable improvements. The team is also charged with regular upkeep and assessment of the machine tool, assuring it stays at peak performance.
Start with single point diamond turning (SPDT) fundamentals training. Hours are 40+/week with off shift work being required. Given the opportunity to grow through internal support and tuition assistance for formal higher education, Optimax technicians have the chance to take this position, their team, and themselves further.
Job Summary
· Responsible for set up, programming and safe operation of SPDT machine
· Appreciates proper handling of optical components and precision parts.
· Ability to understand and visualize aspects of a manufacturing equipment and understanding factors affecting given situations
· Works closely with Tool Crib and QA to provide acceptable parts and efficient processes in the SPDT department
· Performs routine preventative maintenance on the SPDT machine
· Maintaining safety protocols and procedures including clean work space
Requirements:
· Experience in CNC machining and Metrology
· Knowledge of tooling and machinery associated with SPDT
· Good spatial reasoning and willingness to learn
· Strong attention to detail and drive to continually seek to improve work processes
