Job Description:

Biomeme is looking for smart, curious, and passionate individuals to join our culturally diverse team and contribute to our shared success. The Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in risk management activities, and assist in the creation of SOPs for the engineering and manufacturing departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and update product CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks. 
  • Process design changes through PLM workflow. 
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team with other engineering and science disciplines. 
  • Assist in the creation of SOPs for the engineering and manufacturing departments. 
  • Participate in risk management activities (e.g. dFMEA, pFMEA, uFMEA). 
  • Perform DFM/DFA work on instrument parts and assemblies. 
  • Work with Quality in the review and disposition of discrepant materials. 
  • Assist in qualifying vendors for component production. 
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure smooth ramp up of production and resolution of issues. 
  • Participate in Design Reviews. 
  • Participate in Design Transfer. 
  • May draft protocols and lead execution of testing for mechanical testing. 
  • May create tooling and fixtures for manufacturing. 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required. 
  • 3+ years experience in modeling and drafting in SolidWorks. 
  • Excellent mechanical/mechanism design aptitude, and problem solving/analytical skills. 
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM preferred but not required. 
  • Experience in principles and applications of GD&T. 
  • General knowledge of metals and polymers, their properties, and uses. 
  • Experience with the design of parts to be injection molded, diecast, extruded, stamped, 3D printed, die cut, thermoformed, etc. 
  • Knowledge of common finishes for metal and plastic parts. 
  • Experience with creating cabling models and drawings. 
  • Experience with modeling bent sheet metal parts. 
  • Experience with modeling complex shapes is preferred but not required. 
  • Self-starter, proactive, and accountable individual able to motivate self and others. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to create procedures, work instructions, and forms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities in fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to learn and absorb product knowledge quickly and efficiently.
