Deputy Editor

Our blog/media outlet is seeking a Deputy Editor to help catapult College Football Dawgs to the next level and ensure its content shines. This position is crucial to our aspirations of growing audiences, expanding into different topics, and maintaining the very best of traditional journalism. We are looking for a wordsmith who can make copy sparkle, multitask with poise and panache, police deadlines, and continue our commitment to producing great journalism and a great workplace culture.

As a Deputy Editor, you will report to the College Football Dawgs Editor-in-Chief, who oversees impact and leads daily news and innovation. The Deputy Editor will be part of a growing team devoted to making College Football Dawgs better through impactful journalism.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Editor-in-Chief in the creative development of print and digital content
• Conceptualise, commission, write, and edit copy
• Oversee editorial meetings and planning alongside the Editor-in-Chief
• Approve all text and credits on the website before being signed off by the Editor-in-Chief
• Edit, rewrite, and sub-copy for the site
• Upload stories to the CMS as and when needed
• Ensure the editorial calendar is up to date and planned
• Ensure all content is written following the College Football Dawgs writer's manual

Requirements

• Enthusiasm for college football
• Ability to juggle many different responsibilities, meet deadlines, and handle pressure while remaining calm
• Maintains exceptional organizational skills
• A track record of editing is considered a plus
