PEMCCO Logistics Services, LLC (PLS) is a local package delivery firm with a strong belief in Care, Like, and Respect for our team members, customers, partners, and our community. We’re seeking customer obsessed, team-oriented Delivery Associates with good problem-solving skills and a can-do mindset to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. 

The successful candidate will have maximum availability for a flexible schedule Sunday through Saturday. Shifts start at 11:30 AM and end no later than 11:00 PM. Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available.

Summary/Objective

The Delivery Associate (DA) drives a company provided vehicle for the delivery of AMAZON packages to residential and business customers. The DA also performs functions associated with the successful execution of package delivery services, to include package staging & loading, pre-trip tasks, package delivery, and post-trip tasks. Works as part of the delivery team in order to ensure that orders are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the correct customer.

Pay Rate:  Starting at $16.50 per hour

Essential Functions

  • Load, transport, and deliver items to residential customers or businesses in a safe, timely manner
  • Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, and the customer is satisfied
  • Assist, where possible, other team members with loading and unloading items from vehicles
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients
  • Adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules.
  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and practices
  • Prepare reports and other documents relating to deliveries, pre- & post-trips
  • Operate equipment and machines, such as delivery vans, hand-trucks, etc.
  • Use handheld technology to manage the delivery process
  • Follow strict safety standards on and off the road
  • Move packages up to 50 lbs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate and build relationships
  • Able to prioritize multiple, competing priorities and manage time/workload
  • Able to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple time sensitive projects, multitask, identify project interdependencies and potential risks/pitfalls.
  • Must be able to perform basic desktop computer and tablet operations
  • Able to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure high degree of accuracy/completeness and early/on-time delivery
  • Must be capable of quick acclimation to Amazon delivery service software applications (Cortex, Flex, etc.)
  • Must be capable of quick acclimation to other delivery services software applications (ADP, Mentor eDriving, Element, Voyager, etc.)
  • Must be polite and prompt and committed to providing customers with an excellent experience
  • Must be able to effectively utilize a GPS
  • Must be thorough in ensuring packages are delivered completely and properly
  • Must be committed to work safety
  • Must be passionate about satisfying customers

Required Education and Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Special licenses may be required to operate certain vehicles
  • Strong time management and customer service skills
  • Ability to walk, drive, and lift and carry heavy items for extended periods
  • Holds high ethical standards at all times
  • Proven track record of reliability
  • Prior professional driving experience
  • Prior experience representing a well-regarded consumer brand with professionalism
  • Excellent attention to detail with skill set to problem solve independently
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a self-directed environment with an upbeat attitude
  • Ability to work with and lead a team in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Must be able to operate and navigate a delivery commercial delivery van, 10,000 lbs. or less
  • Must be able to move boxes up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must consent to and pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work well with customers
  • Adhere to strict safety and quality standards on and off the road
  • Interact in a positive and a professional manner with customer and general public while delivering products to customers' homes, retail, and business locations
  • Follow up on customer requests or problems with solution-oriented approach keeping customer informed of delivery progress
  • Use handheld technology to deliver customer packages, manage delivery progress, and solve obstacles
  • Problem-solve during package delivery to meet customer promise
  • Ensure delivery vehicle is clean, fueled, and in good operating condition at all times
  • Assist in supporting and training other team members
  • Where appropriate, carry out in delivery station activities including ensuring driver readiness and other general tasks as assigned

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of logistics, and/or delivery services experience

Work Environment

  • Open warehouse setting with limited climate control (i.e., warm summer and cold winter temperatures)
  • High desk and chair sedentary operations
  • Frequent in/out of climate control vans
  • On the road delivery of packages to residences and commercial businesses using commercial cargo vans; climbs in and out of van, and walks up and down stairs in all weather conditions
  • Delivery routes may vary and may be delayed due to traffic from on road congestion, construction, or other factors
  • Set core schedule, but there may be adjustments including, additional hours and potential schedule changes depending on time of the year and peak seasons and other factors

Physical Demands

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Capable to comfortably briskly and safely move in and out of cargo van
  • Capable to comfortably briskly and safely move throughout delivery neighborhoods
  • Capable of moving up and down stairs
