In Cano Health we are working to be the most patient-centric company in the industry, to get there, we need talented, bright, and driven people. In our Benefits department, we are currently looking for a Customer Service/Benefits Coordinator who will be responsible for performing the appropriate procedures to verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, run test claims and determine patient coverage/responsibility for services and testing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs Insurance Verification of benefit coverage on all of the patient's insurance plans for each service being provided.
  • Obtains and documents in the system all information related to coinsurance, copay, deductibles, authorization requirements, etc.
  • Creates documentation required to service the patient per policy and payer guidelines.
  • Determines estimated patient financial responsibility using insurance verification information and payer contracts and/or self-pay guidelines.
  • Obtains initial authorization prior to admitting the patient for all services for any insurance plan that has authorization requirements.

Education & Experience

  • 1-year experience in sales in the Medical industry is a plus
  • Basic Medical Terminology
  • Insurance Authorization/Verification
  • Strong Customer Service in Healthcare field for at least 1 year
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies

  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with EMR’s (Electronically Medical Records), ECW strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
