Project Description
Human rights are the basic rights of each human being, independent of race, sex, religion, political opinion, social status, or any other characteristic. Through international human rights conventions, governments commit to respect, protect, promote and fulfill the human rights of their citizens and other individuals within and beyond their borders.
For business, not for profit organizations and individuals, human rights provide a universal benchmark for minimum standards of behavior. Many national laws and regulations have evolved as a result of a State’s obligation to implement human rights standards. All organizations and individuals must, of course, observe such laws in all countries and jurisdictions in which they operate or live. These legal obligations can include right to equal opportunity and non-discriminatory treatment; right to security in persons; rights of workers; respect for national sovereignty and human rights; obligations with regard to consumer protection; and obligations with regard to environmental protection.
Current range of Emrana services leverage law, technology and regenerative design thinking to assist organizations and individuals to not only comply with these legal obligations but allow them to be pioneers in the field of social and environmental standards. Services pertaining to business and not for profit organizations focus on environmental and human rights management, quality and safety assurance and risk assessment and mitigation. Residential services include property management and lifestyle cost accounting consulting that allow individuals to achieve socially responsible and environmentally conscious living. The Research and Development team at Emrana is in the process of developing products for micro, small and medium (MSM) businesses to accomplish continued profit and growth, while being pioneers of social and environmental accountability in their respective sector.
The company is seeking interns who can work with technical experts at Emrana to conduct research and design and create content on topics such as environmental justice; environmental protection; environmental rights; water quality; rights of persons with disability and mental health conditions; business & human rIghts; human rights and labor practices; sustainability; and business management.
