Childcare Assistant

Childcare Assistants are responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool-age children and/or school-age children; develops partnerships with parents/guardians to engage and encourage parent participation in the program.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in serving meals/snacks and sit with children while they eat;
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children after school and at all times; maintain Proper class ratio;
• Plan daily program (developmental activities) in detail for assigned age group; submit weekly lesson plans due by Thursday of each week;
• Place toys and materials at children’s level for their easy access;
• Check toys and equipment daily/weekly for their safe after-school usage;
• Treating children with dignity and respect.
• Helping children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
• Being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and classroom learning environment.
• Assuming an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
• Attending all staff meetings.
• Planning and implementing methods of establishing a positive liaison with the parents of the students.
• Assisting in public-relations events sponsored by the school.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Desired

• Early Childhood Education (ECE)
• CPR/first aid certification
• One year of experience working with students
