Category Buyer

We have partnered with a large food manufacturing company in the Lynn, MA area to provide them with a Category Buyer.

Responsibilities of the Category Buyer:

• Plan and execute raw material requirements for internal customers utilizing the ERP system
• Reorder raw materials within the lead time specifications--enter purchase order with details--communicate the order to vendor and confirm pricing
• Monitor inventory levels based on daily usage, forecast, and min vs. max inventory ranges
• Contact vendors when orders do not meet criteria
• Maintain vendor database with contact and ordering info--negotiate with the vendor for competitive pricing
• Qualify new suppliers as business changes
• Develop and implement cost reduction programs
• Approve invoices and reconcile through tracking and contracts guidelines
• Attend weekly KPI meetings
• Monitor supplier performance
• Assist operations team with raw material delivery, issues, pickup times, etc
• Work with QA to take care of expired/expiring inventory 

Requirements of the Category Buyer:

• Bachelors Degree
• 1+ years experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing or food processing industry
• Knowledge in chilled/refrigerated food products is good to have
• Ability to read and interpret raw material specifications and supplier documents
• Working knowledge of Purchase to Pay business process
• Ability to juggle many projects at one time
• Proficient with MS Office
• Strong communication skills
• Less than 10% travel to other out of state facilities
• Financial and business acumen
