Business Data Analyst

Job Description:
 

Asta Crs is looking for a highly motivated business analyst to work with stakeholders in implementing our data management and governance program. Serve as liaison between business end-users and technology teams by assisting in the analysis of business needs to be solved with integrated/automated systems. This individual will work closely with more experienced subject matter leads to gather business requirements; determine data needs (both internal and external data sources); review/produce documented and approved specifications. This is a client facing role with a high level of business interaction and a strong customer service mindset is imperative.
 

Responsibilities:
 

• Assist senior staff in the gathering and validating business requirements and workflow documentation
• Perform in-depth data analysis of both functional and non-functional business needs to validate business requirements to determine how to best fulfil those needs via authorized data sources
• Conducting data linage/gap analysis between current and to-be requirements to ensure alignment and understanding of end-users needs
• Work with functional and technical teams to develop data sourcing logic that drive reporting visualizations
• Support senior subject matter leads to conduct workshops with business and technology partners to ensure requirements are built as expected
• Assist in the development of testable business requirements and translate them into use cases in functional and technical specification documents (i.e. SLDs)
• Work closely with the Integration test team to ensure all identified scenarios are properly tested and defects are resolved, and a quality end-user product is delivered
• Manage requirements using JIRA backlog and provide the right level of transparency on progress using different reports (burndown, velocity, capacity, etc.)

Qualifications and Competencies:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative finance, computer science or related fields
• 3+ years of equivalent work experience in business systems analysis, data analysis and financial reporting
• Business requirements knowledge with the focus on analyzing multiple data sources and document data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies
• Able to capture and translate information into a formal document with assistance from more senior staff
• Ability to access data from Teradata, SQL Server, or Oracle, and perform independent data validations
• Ability to write intermediate SQL queries using tools such as TOAD Data Point, MS SQL Server, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office MS Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability easily assimilate information and learn new applications and processes
• Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects
• A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow things through
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
