Associate Scientist

Job Description: 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Demonstrate technical proficiency in molecular techniques 
• Able to independently execute experimental procedures 
• Able to independently conduct test protocols, procedures, and product evaluations, and maintain proper documentation 
• Correlate work and comprehend the relation of the problem to a larger one 
• Provide suggestions related to assigned problem 
• Write SOPs and study reports 
• Work within the established design control process for product development and to transfer new products from R&D into manufacturing 
• Work as a member of a team on product development efforts, as well as on independent development and improvement projects 
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other scientists, chemists, engineers and manufacturing personnel on product transfer efforts 
• Perform work using clinical specimens and biohazardous organisms 
• Investigate problem areas and areas of desirable product improvement 
• Possess good communication skills, capable of communicating ideas to colleagues 
• Use problem-solving skills combined with analytical skills and good attention to detail 
• Demonstrate effective teamwork and quality of work of tasks assigned requires minimal to no re-work 
• Participate in routine maintenance and lab safety 

Required 

• B.S. in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, or a closely related field 
• At least two years of molecular laboratory experience, preferably in industry 
• Hands-on experience with PCR and comprehension of molecular biology techniques 
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities 
• Experience working under design control and with FDA regulatory submissions 
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of molecular diagnostics 
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities 

Preferred 

• Understanding of the procedures, processes, record keeping, software systems and infrastructure of product development and product transfer is highly desirable 
• Hands-on molecular diagnostic product development experience a plus 
• Hands-on molecular diagnostic product transfer experience a plus
