Assembler

This position reports to the Assembly Supervisor. Additionally, this employee may be assigned to a Team Lead whose directives should also be followed. The tasks listed below describe the major responsibilities of the position but should not be considered conclusive. All handbook principles apply and any directive from a member of management should be followed to the best of one’s ability.

Essential Functions:

• Lift up to 25 lbs alone and up to 50 lbs assisted.
• Stand for up to ten hours.
• Position requires repetitive motion of the hands and wrists.
• Majority of work performed is erecting a box, inserting a foam piece, closing and unitizing.
• Participate in inventories and work overtime as necessary.
• Obey all safety procedures and policies. Report accidents and unsafe acts.
• Submit to a urinalysis after any accident or display of odd behavior.
• Read a tape measure, write clearly and perform basic math.
• Read and interpret job ticket specification sheets and ratios.
• Perform general housekeeping of a workstation and assigned common area to include sweeping and disposal of trash.
• Function as part of a team to perform “one piece flow production.” (Individuals completing separate tasks in sequence to build a finished product.) (Also called an “assembly line.”)
• Identify, segregate, label and quarantine defective materials.
• Complete accurate production paperwork including: start and end run time, number of units produced and total quantity completed.
• Input accurate daily production into a touch screen that is online with a central computer system.
• Affix proper load tags with correct counts on both in process and finished goods.
• Comply with established performance standards on each job. (Also known as “time study” or “pieces per hour.”)
• Operate a stitch gun, glue gun, hand bander, heat gun and bundler.
• Assist other departments as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of previous experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment  preferred
• Have the ability to complete basic math skills and computer knowledge
• Have the ability to read a tape measure in standard measurements. Metric measurements is a plus.
