Animal Caretaker

Job Summary

All animal lovers and candidates with a nurturing spirit are highly encouraged to consider joining our team as animal caretakers. This is the perfect opportunity to do what you love while getting paid and learning new skills. While you'll spend plenty of time with various animals, cleaning their cages, setting up housing and keeping a close eye on their facilities, you'll also operate facility equipment and perform recordkeeping while inputting facility data on a daily basis. As a company caretaker, you'll work on a rotating shift with the rest of our team, and you're sure to get in plenty of walking. Do you think you can handle working with furry co-workers? Job Responsibilities

• Water and feed your patients according to posted schedules, alerting a supervisor if you notice a potential need for a change in diet.
• Watch over animals throughout your shift to ensure they're in good physical and mental health.
• Treat sick or injured animals with basic first aid as needed, making sure you alert a veterinarian for more serious injuries and illnesses.
• Set up, operate, clean and maintain cage-washing machines and feeders as needed.
• Wash, dry and groom animals at least once a week, making sure to give them plenty of TLC while scrubbing them clean.
• Use computer system to note essential weekly facility data according to the latest local, state and federal requirements (once a month we review database to ensure all information is entered correctly and sent to necessary parties).
• Answer customer questions, set up appointments and answer telephones as needed in the reception area.
• Organize, unload and inventory feed and clinic supplies as necessary.
   

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required
 

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• ALAT certification within 14 months of joining the team
• Able to pass a criminal background check
  
   

Preferred

• A valid driver's license
• Enjoy receiving plenty of dog kisses
