ABA Behavior Interventionist

We are seeking Behavioral Interventionists to join our growing multi-disciplinary team!

JOB SUMMARY:  
 

Behavior Interventionists are an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team at Cortica that work directly with children to build a variety of skills in areas such as communication, self-regulation, and social skills.
 

At Cortica we provide a specialized, hands-on training program that will fully prepare you to work with patients diagnosed with autism. Following your training, you will be equipped to implement positive behavior interventions and meet the requirements to take the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) exam. Ongoing support will be provided by our team of knowledgeable supervisors, to ensure you are able to enhance your clinical skills and continue growing professionally. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Provide direct implementation of behavior-analytic services to children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental differences.
• Implement positive behavior implementations as developed and analyzed with the BCBA.
• Implement strategies with children including antecedent and consequence (reinforcement) strategies, based on developed treatment plans and strategies with their BCBA.
• Work in the home, community, clinic or other designated settings with children and their families providing direct behavior-analytic care as determined in the child’s assessment and treatment plan.
• Identify the essential components of a written behavior reduction plan and describe common functions of behavior.
• Fulfill all documentation requirements including the use of data collection of strategies and goals and the completion of session notes during the session.
• Assist with individualized assessment procedures through preference assessments and data collection.
• Work with families and supervisor to establish an environment supportive of treatment and education across all settings of care.
• Assist with the training of stakeholders (e.g., family, caregivers, other professionals) as discussed and monitored with supervisor.
• Follow Cortica crisis and emergency procedures, including de-escalation strategies, first aid strategies, and mandated reporting.
• Participate in any meetings with clients, as requested by direct supervisor.
• Meet with the supervisor through face to face supervision and group meetings and respond appropriately to feedback and performance accordingly.
• Collaborate and coordinate with all service providers and professionals associated to the case and keep them apprised of client’s progress and any concerning issues that may arise.
• Maintain the client file in accordance to insurance company guidelines, assuring that all necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner (i.e. treatment plan, progress notes, data sheets, monthly reports, discharge summary).
• Complete a weekly timesheet or input time in case management system and turn in all clinical documents / contact logs to supervisor at the end of the week.
• Follow all BACB, HIPAA, and Human Rights regulations regarding confidentiality and ethical practice as it relates to clients of Cortica.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
 

• Must have experience working with children and/or children diagnosed with Autism.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or related field preferred.
• Must have a valid California drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Must be available to work days, late afternoons, and evenings from 2:00pm – 7:00pm.
• Weekend availability strongly preferred.
