Mountain and Sea Educational Adventures (MSA) was founded in 1997 as a non-profit organization with a mission to teach outdoor education in a manner which increases the awareness of the environment, raises the spirit of youth, and builds their confidence. Our program sites are located on Catalina Island, The San Bernardino Mountains, ENHYDRA (our flagship vessel). MSA is a faith based science and educational organization. We teach science concepts in the midst of God’s creation, fostering growth and building character. Join our mission to reach young people at beautiful Catalina Island! Help us make “world changers” out of kids ages 9-17. As a fundamental part of our operations; ensure that our campers and staff are well fed and nourished, our galley is well managed and stewarded well.
• Live onsite at a beautiful cove on Catalina Island spring and fall months as well as on a 112' ship in the summer.

Basic Position Description:
Oversee waterfront programs for smooth running operation
Evaluate and inventory all waterfront program materials and equipment (snorkel gear, wetsuits, kayaks, paddle boards)
Keep waterfront shed organized
Repair damaged equipment
Oversee Lifeguards & Lifeguard when needed
Perform drills for CPR and 1st aid with weekly checks
Setup and Check Boats, Kayaks, Moorings and Swim line
Oversee safety on pier and dock regarding ferry and other vessels
Train staff on boat driving and boat safety
Lead staff on various projects
Fuel up and basic upkeep of boats
Lead snorkel and kayak tours during busy weeks
General vehicle knowledge
Qualifications:
Candidate must be at least 25 years old, should be a self starter with great organizational and leadership skills. Needs to work well with children and be a team player. Strong swimming ability with certifications in 1st aid, lifeguard and CPR.
He or she must have the ability to lift at least 65 pounds, have some boat driving experience and be willing obta Preferred: 50 ton captains license, Catalina Coastal . We need someone with the ability to troubleshoot with some basic vessel & vehicle maintenance experience.
Starting Date: March 2nd 2022
Compensation: $120 a day including food & housing
Location: Catalina Island 65% Catalina Island 35% on board our 112” Floating Sea Camp. Staff accommodations are rustic cabins.
