Job Title: Community Garden Program Coordinator Volunteer
Location: Hybrid (On-site & Remote)
Reports To: Farm Manger

Job Type: Volunteer


Job Summary:
The Community Garden Program Coordinator Volunteer will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of a community garden project. This individual will work closely with the organization's leadership team, volunteers, and community members to create a thriving garden that is accessible to all.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of the community garden project, including recruiting volunteers, managing schedules, and supervising garden activities
  • Collaborate with community members and partners to plan and implement community events, workshops, and other educational opportunities related to the garden
  • Manage the distribution of garden plots, maintain a waitlist, and track garden usage
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, sponsors, and funders
  • Prepare and manage the garden budget, and track expenses and revenues
  • Ensure the safety and security of the garden by implementing appropriate policies and procedures
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all participants, including addressing conflicts or concerns as needed
  • Maintain regular communication with the organization's leadership team to ensure that the garden project aligns with the organization's mission and goals.

Requirements:

  • Passion for community building and sustainability
  • Experience with project management, event planning, or volunteer coordination
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to utilize computer software, email, and other electronics adequately
  • Ability to travel 15-25% of the time
