Visual Effects Artist

Second Dinner is on the hunt for a visual effects artist to join the crew! We’re a small team trying to make something earth-shattering-ly awesome.  And we get to play in the incredible Marvel universe!  Visual Effects are our chance to make people fall in love with this crazy game we are making, so come join us and help us craft some of the most awesome effects the world has ever seen!

Responsibilities

• Create, design, and implement stunning visual effects using 2D and 3D elements
• Create shaders with node-based shader networks
• Create FX textures
• Optimize your visuals for mobile platforms
• Work with all artists to maintain consistency throughout the game
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight 
• Communicate ideas and goals to make sure everyone is informed and excited about the direction
• Interface with the engineering and design teams and communicate effectively with them

Requirements

• 2+ years in a visual effects role
• Incredible communication ability
• Ability to concept/previs an effect or an idea
• Excellent sense of timing, weight, and speed

Pluses (none of these are required)

• Unity Knowledge
• After Effects (or similar) Knowledge
• Houdini Knowledge
• Proficient in Photoshop
• Knowledge of and passion for the Marvel universe
• Traditional hand drawn animation

Second Dinner is located in sunny Orange County, CA. We are a small studio that believes in moving fast and giving everyone a feeling of ownership. People who join us will have a massive impact on both the game and the company.

We appreciate companies that can make remote work successful, but we prefer the serendipity and organic collaboration of being co-located in an office. Due to the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, we are temporarily working from home.
