ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Reviews all loan application documents to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance to Bank or Secondary Market guidelines. Ensures that required follow up activities are conducted in connection with team member(s).
  • Thoroughly reviews and analyzes various applicant documents, e.g. final reports, tax returns, credit reports, etc., to determine loan eligibility. Exercises approval/declination authority within defined organizational and regulatory lending guidelines.
  • Works closely with a variety of lending related professionals, e.g. Loan Officers, Borrowers and Mortgage Operations team, to ensure that all phases of lending procedures are completed in accordance with service standards and adherence with pertinent regulations, established lending policies as well as procedures.
  • Acts as information source to appropriate personnel, e.g. Loan Officers, Loan Analysts and Closers, etc., in various underwriting and related principles and procedures.
  • Determines and implements daily pipeline workflow and priorities.
  • Manage to the SFMC’s standards, Borrowers and Loan Officers expectations the mortgage application process with an emphasis on exceeding the standards as set forth by SFMC’s service level standards.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of secondary market underwriting policies and procedures and the Mortgage Company and Bank’s loan products and policies.
  • Makes preliminary recommendation for loans exceeding lending authority for presentation to designated individuals with higher lending authority.
  • Assists in resolution of post-closing issues as necessary.
  • Performs related processing, underwriting and administrative duties as may be assigned or required.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to all internal and external communications.
  • Provides second signature approvals/declinations on delegated loans.
  • Responsible for the integrity of HMDA information.
  • Demonstrates compliance with banking business laws and regulations as defined in company policies and procedures pertinent to the position.
  • Regular attendance is essential to this position.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Word, Excel and mortgage loan processing software skills required; strong time management and organizational skills required; excellence in customer service and communication skills required; ability to work in a team oriented service driven environment; mortgage lending knowledge DU/LP, DE certification; FNMA/FHA/VA and State Housing and 4-7 years underwriting experience with sign-off authority.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 4 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
